Staying local this spring break? Looking for something to do? No problem! Tulsa has many great things to offer that you might not have time to do when classes are in session. Here’s a list of 10 things/places you can experience this spring break in no particular order.

A fun, free, student led exhibit can be found at TU’s own 101 Archer. Located downtown, only about 8 minutes from campus, are two amazing exhibitions. First is American Myths, student-led by yours truly, explores myths that are uniquely American. The second is Envisioning Tomorrow: Photographs by Anitra Lavanhar. “Envisioning Tomorrow was born from my deep concern about the fear and division shaping so much of our national conversation and from a belief that another story is possible,” says Lavanhar. “This portrait series reflects a small but powerful cross-section of the remarkable diversity found in the Tulsa area and challenges the assumption that differences in belief, background, and lived experience must inevitably divide us.” 101 Archer, located at 101 E Archer Ave, Tulsa OK 74103, is open Wednesday-Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Looking for something to do outside? A hike at Turkey Mountain is perfect! With multiple trails for different levels of hiking skill, Turkey Mountain can be a great option for hikers or bikers! Cain’s Ballroom is a historic music venue in downtown Tulsa. While a bit pricier than the last two spots, the three shows being put on the week of March 16th will definitely be worth it. Connect with your inner child this spring break at the Tulsa Zoo! Go with friends and see some animals! The Zoo has done some major renovations in the past couple of years, most recently upgrading their elephant habitat. Bored but trying to be gut healthy? NEFF brewing is an all gluten free pub style restaurant with their own signature brewed beer. NEFF Brewing is perfect for those with celiac disease or other gluten intolerances. Have fun without worrying about having a bad reaction to your food. Tulsa has a multitude of wonderful museums but the closest one to TU is the Greenwood Cultural Center and Museum. This area marks the history of the tragedy of the Tulsa Race Massacre. Take some time to visit and learn about not only the events of the massacre but the people, including how they lived and what they did for Tulsa. They have so many spring break activities going on, most notably the famous Neon in Bloom, an exhibit on the blooming of the cherry blossom trees!
