Letter from the editors

As we publish this week’s issue, we have a bittersweet announcement: this will be our last edition of the semester. With our tiny–but–mighty staff juggling finals, jobs, internships, existential crises and the occasional need for sleep, we’re giving ourselves permission to hit pause for the rest of the fall. But don’t worry, we’re not going far. We’ll be back in January, caffeinated and ready to cause good, journalistic trouble once again.

This semester has been a whirlwind behind the scenes, and we wanted to share a little of what we’ve been up to. For starters, we completely redesigned our website, yes, the whole thing, to make it cleaner, easier to navigate and hopefully a little more fun to scroll through during your 8 a.m. class. We also packed up our office in Oliphant and made the big move to the College of Law Library. New building, new vibe, same slightly chaotic newsroom energy.

Amid all this change, we’ve continued working hard to bring you reporting that reflects both the pulse of campus and the broader Tulsa community. From covering student-led initiatives and academic events to spotlighting local arts, activism and everything in between, our goal has always been to help students feel connected, informed and represented.

And since this fall marked a nearly complete turnover of our staff, we’re excited to introduce each member of our new team, especially unofficial ringleader Aiden Hoogstra, so you can see the faces, voices and passions behind The Collegian. It is a fresh start, and we can’t wait for you to get to know the people who make this paper happen.

We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who has read, shared, liked, critiqued or kindly ignored a typo or two this semester. Your support, along with the powerful efforts of journalistic dynamo and master of charisma Aiden Hoogstra, is what keeps student journalism alive and gives us the momentum to keep growing.

Pitch meetings will officially resume on Jan. 27, and we can’t wait to welcome new writers, returning contributors and anyone curious about joining our little newsroom family. Until then, we hope your winter break is restful, joyful and filled with exactly zero Blackboard notifications.

Thanks for sticking with us — we’ll see you in the new year.

— The Collegian Staff (and Aiden)
