Two Tulsa teens have been killed in an apartment raid and consequent shooting.

Tulsa police are continuing to search for a suspect who shot and killed two teenagers. The shooting happened in an east Tulsa apartment complex on Feb. 8 according to Fox 23 News. Tulsa Police Department Homicide Detectives have identified 19-year-old Angel Ibarra, who is wanted for murder in connection to this incident. News 9 reported that Arturo Degollado was sitting in his car with three other teenagers around 1:30 a.m. in front of the apartments on East 21st Street when he and Jet Brummett were shot at. Police say the boys tried to drive away, “They tried to flee, ended up crashing into a brick retaining wall and yeah, that’s unfortunately where two people died” commented Lieutenant Brandon Watkins.
Captain Richard Meulenberg who is with the Tulsa Police Department said, “This person, 19, while clearly doing things that are completely wrong, why he did them I couldn’t tell you, but let’s get him into custody and find out and get him off of the streets” reported Fox 23 News. Two teens named Christopher Atjun who turned himself in aged 18 and 16-year-old Joseph Melendez have been identified as two other teens in the incident. Reportedly Melendez gave Atjun a gun that was used when he and Ibarra got out of the car and shot at 4 victims. This led to Arturo Degollado and Jett Brummett dying at the scene. All three of these suspects are charged with two counts of first-degree murder, and Ibarra and Atjun are charged with two counts of shooting with intent to kill reported Fox 23 News. Two of the teens were injured but they are currently in good condition. Captain Meulenberg urged the public to not lose traction with this case, “I don’t want people to move on because they see another homicide, another shooting, another accidental shooting, multiple people have died since then and we are still looking for a suspect in this ambush from the 8th” reported Fox 23 News.

Degollado was not in high school at the time, but he was exploring other options like getting his GED reported New 9. Jose added, “He mentioned he also might have wanted to join the armed forces at some point, which is good you know it would have just gotten him away from here and experience the world just a little bit” reported News 9. Jose and his family prayed for Jet and their family also.
Jett Brummett was a senior at Cleveland High School with his mom described him as having a good heart and loving people reported News 9. Crystal said Jet was in Tulsa the night of the shooting because he went to hang out and spend time with his friends who used to go to Cleveland High School. Crystal told News 9 that when she got the call she drove to Tulsa and to the hospitals to see if she could find her son however what she did not know was that Jet did not make it to any of the hospitals as a Tulsa Police Detective confirmed her son was dead. In terms of justice for Jett’s mother, she commented “I mean, I want him to do his time and just know he did take something from us that is not replaceable” reported News 9.
