We Can’t Stop Winning

Sometimes the funniest thing you can write is the objective truth, when everything is so absurd, there is no reason to lie, often simply stating real world events is enough.
“We’re gonna win so much, you may even get tired of winning. And you’ll say, ‘Please, please. It’s too much winning. We can’t take it anymore. Mr. President, it’s too much.’ A common motif within the trump campaign was this idea that when he is elected, the winning will begin. So now, 13 days into the reign of the republican party, I am confused. Not only do we appear to be losing, but the entire world seems prepped, hands interlocked, for the blunders of our current administration to harm the rest of the globe. At time of writing, we have had two plane crashes, the confirmation of an alcoholic secretary of defense, the firing of every investigator on the January 6th riots, freezing of most federal aid programs, one record stock market plunge, due to the promise of tariffs on two of our biggest trade partners, one being Canada the best ally a democratic nation could wish for, and once again, it doesn’t really feel like winning.
I assume that many of us have an ideal president in mind, some mismash of different personalities, beliefs and the innate ability to lead. Maybe they even have your best interest at heart, but knowing politicians I won’t hold my breath. But I found the antithesis of my ideal president two nights ago, when the first plane collided with a US Army blackhawk helicopter, little information was known about the pilots, the FAA staff, who was manning the ATC and many other key aspects of the deadly crash. This did nothing to stop our new President, Donald Trump from pointing the blame at the pilot, air traffic control and the previous president Joe Biden. He explicitly stated that diversity hiring and lowered standards were the reason for the accident. When questioned about his previous statements, he was asked how he was so sure that diversity was the cause he responded with ramblings about computers, ““Because I have common sense. OK? And unfortunately, a lot of people don’t. We want brilliant people doing this. This is a major chess game at the highest level. When you have 60 planes coming in during a short period of time, and they’re all coming in different directions, and you’re dealing with very high-level computer, computer work and very complex computers.” We now have more information about the pilot of the helicopter, and she was top of her class and in no way a “non-merit hire,” as our dear president continuously claimed. Is it also apparent that the Air Traffic Control tower at Regan National Airport was understaffed due to hiring freezes and key leadership that was fired by Trump early into his administration.
One campaign promise that I heard frequently was about grocery prices, especially eggs as they have increased on average by 23% from October to December 2024. But egg prices have not fallen during his time in office, and with the proposed tariffs on eggs from Canada and the current inaction of the administration to curb bird flu outbreaks in the US. Consumers can expect their weekly grocery runs to continue increasing in price. Not only will eggs be more expensive in the coming months, tariffs on Canada, Mexico, China and even a threat of tariffs on the EU, will increase the price of everyday Americans past what many are able to pay. The freezing of federal funds to all public loans and grants which covered programs like cancer research, business loans, scholarships and even university funding.
I personally am tired of winning if this is what it looks like.
